I examine and question abundance and glamour. Menacing yet glorious Rococo chandeliers, sublime ocean coastlines, and ostentatious females living in extravagance are examples of my subject matter. Through the use of brightly colored paintings, collages and drawings I liberally layer images of wealth and interior design with aspects of nature. Financial prosperity and lush flora are enriching but they can also overgrow to destruction: it is all so beautiful and ugly, necessary and unnecessary. Using aesthetic beauty as an intermediary and humor as a celebrator I uproot ideas of what wealth and value represent making resulting images uncomfortably surreal. My work is dreamlike yet it conveys a reality. It is a constructed paradise of vibrant life: affluence, lushness, and decay.
