I work primarily in sculpture and drawing. I make some figurative work that is intuitive and derived from my own stream of conscious thoughts, such as the piece 'Two", 2004-5. I make works that one can physically enter into, such as the "Ice Cave" or "Comfort Tree".
Lately I have been concerned with a sort of empirical romanticism, using high-tech model making techniques to reproduce iconic vernacular architectural structures across the globe, from tepees and igloos to yurts and cave homes. I want to show the similarity between human creation, animal made structures, and natural phenomena.
