The subject of my recent work is the movement of people in public and semi- public urban spaces. I capture “hidden choreographies” – informal manifestations of elements in the public space, of the nature of that particular place, and of the figures I find in them. As described by Michel De Certeau, “The act of walking is to the urban system what the speech act is to language or to the statements uttered.” The urban landscape is continually in motion (via its pedestrians) and it is this motion that my work documents.
