I grew up a fiction writer to the bone. When I went to college in Brooklyn, though, I quickly discovered that I was a closeted poet and book artist.

My most recent collection, entitled "Mistress," is a collection of ekphrastic poetry that explores my relationships with different works of 20th Century art, the artists who created them, and the environments in which they are presented. Started at the MoMA in July 2007, the manuscript lead me through New York, Houston, and Washington D.C. before culminating in Paris in January 2008.

"Mistress" opened my eyes to the connections that are free to be made between art and writing. At the beginning, the question of "Can art be made from already famous artworks?" sort of plagued me, but the finished work is one I am certain stands on its own. Now I have only become more involved in using text in conjunction with art, and I dream about moving beyond and using text to make art.
