On sidewalks throughout New York Free Style Arts Association artists set up giant public sculptures. The thing was that the sculptures themselves were actually created by the people walking by. Given plastic tubes, hoola hoops, and packing tape, hundreds of people became involved in creating dynamic art together. I am a founder of the art collective Free Style Arts Association here in NYC. We do participation-based public art interventions, like inviting people to build a giant fort or string weaving with us at an intersection, and hosting painting, performance and movie making parties where everyone is a director at our gallery in Williamsburg, The Glasslands.
I am also the creator of the show PIRATE HERO. I like doing these "live animations" because it is documenting the kinds of imaginary scenes I have drawn and made sound effects for, since I was a child.
