My collages are narrative and un-ironic. I think of my creative process as an accidental method of divining, not in the sense of presaging the future, but as in dowsing, water-witching. Just as the forked divining rod is pulled toward subterranean stores of water and metal, so I find that, in my hands, images are drawn together in unanticipated ways that invite meaning, as a good song does. I don’t set out to say something; instead, I find that I have spoken.
