As a Booth Fellow in Architecture, I examined the contrast between the inside and outside spaces of Tehran, created under the Islamic Republic of Iran's surveillance. Through this project, I created collages investigating this contrast. This image is of myself with and without "hijab", the Islamic covering mandatory for women in Public spaces of Iran.As a Booth Fellow in Architecture, I examined the contrast between the inside and outside spaces of Tehran, created under the Islamic Republic of Iran's surveillance. About two years ago, I left a career in architecture to pursue art in New York. Through different art residencies such as The MacDowell Colony, Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts, Ucross Foundation, and PS122, I found small pockets of time and space to begin to explore my art.
Due to my interest in a range of materials and processes, I have discovered sculpture as a fascinating intersection of my interests. sensuous repetition, emotional body, and expanded time are some of the main common elements connecting my bodies of work.
