My most recent work has focused on my relationship with nature. These paintings developed from the process of looking at nature and focusing on the elements of light, texture and color and then attempting to create an atmosphere wherein one can meditate and reflect.
The gold leaf I use symbolizes not only western religious icons of the past, but also manAos relationship with nature. Gold is an element created by nature, but it is man who has given it value.
These paintings serve to provide a place where one can meditate on the beauty of the natural elements while also remembering the tension between man and his natural environment.
