Artist Statement:
The complexity of the modern cities with its combination of forms, spaces, places, individuals, times and histories becomes challenging for human understanding and a clear stimulus to create new ways of representation which, from a parallel perspective from those coming from the urbanite disciplines, try to explain, to capture the intensity of life and death in the human beehive with its permanent buzzing.
Time and space, the intuition of the human shapes and their constant and temporary actions are gathered in my works: artifacts, modified pictures and paintings all of which constitute an artistic corpus with its own identity and incisive view.
The citizen with its own share of violence and frailty is the obvious antagonist of the rousseaunean man living in state of nature. This contradiction is reflected through the use of shapes, colors, textures and the sophisticated precariousness of his works. The city, its construction is what it is, but simultaneously, much less than that, appearing as frail and mysterious, an unsuccessful intent, an act of order and confusion.
I had pictured the citizen and the urban space, as two live entities subject to a generative and degenerative process of birth, development and twilight.
As an artist and architect, i dont want to avoid the complex urban structure and the need of its understanding. Highways, architecture, cultural trends are all elements that create the urban dynamics, constantly interacting, creating relationships that give place to organic, harmonious and unique realities.
