Mieke D is a Brooklyn-based performer, interdisciplinary artist, and cultural worker with a particular interest in movement-, documentary-, and community-based theater. The goal of her solo and collaborative work is to express the unstable nature of race, gender, nationality, and authenticity. She has shared original work at Dance New Amsterdam, Dixon Place, NYU, the Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics, the Bushwick Arts Festival, Earthdance, and Under St. Marks. As an actor, she has performed with La Pocha Nostra, the Theater of a Two-Headed Calf, Target Margin Theater Company, Taylor Mac, Second Generation Theatre and Kyoung Park, among others. She has worked as an administrator, documentarian, educator, organizer, writer, and producer on community-based theater productions with Cornerstone Theater Company, The Foundry Theatre, and Ping Chong + Co. Mieke continues to grow as an artist and an activist, working from a place of love and rage to shape this ever-evolving culture that we live in. BFA: Experimental Theater Wing, NYU.
