PPL is a flexible collective that constructs theories and performances, often operas, performance art pieces, and social arts projects. We also organize exhibitions, conferences, and other platforms for a wide range of human endeavors across disciplines, spheres, and states of being. Since 2006, we have focused on the construction of long-form performance art “documentary operas” through processes of Focus Workshops, interviews, and other collective theorizing sessions. These processes have been supported through Swing Space from LMCC (14 Wall Street), chashama, LAB at LPAC, 3B at IRT, Movement Research, Incubation at the Cell, residencies through the Performance Project at University Settlement, at Grace Exhibition Space, Spread Art, etc. We also make shorter-form and sculptural noise and mess in galleries, theaters, bars, abandoned buildings, parkinglots, on sidewalks, rooftops, and elsewhere as necessary in the US, Berlin, and on the world wide web.
Our current project is an opera made in collaboration with Lindsey Drury (Drearysomebody) called 'Any Size Mirror is a Dictator.' Sept 5-Oct 19 at Momenta Art, this work will go through six weeks of live performance and an evolving installation/environment. http://www.anysizemirrorisadictator.com
