For over 30 years Brooklyn Arts Council's folklorist, Dr. Kay Turner, has been documenting and studying various kinds of memorials and monuments. In 2005 she initiated an annual September 11 project centered on memorialization of that day. Projects have included a symposia, a photos exhibition, and a film series. For 2008, the seventh anniversary of the attacks, Turner’s project is publication of the following essay and possible responses to it that may be posted on BAC's online Forum.
