All Community Arts Regrant funding decisions are made by panels selected by BAC. Our panelists bring their artistic expertise, knowledge of Brooklyn’s neighborhoods, and understanding of community arts administration to the review process.
So that applicants are reviewed as fairly and impartially as possible, BAC strives to create panels that are balanced by ethnicity, gender, age, and artistic style. Each panelist can be asked to return for up to three consecutive years; approximately a third of panelists are alternated each year to allow for a variety of viewpoints.

Panelists evaluate BAC Regrant applications and recommend support based on the following equally important criteria:
• Quality and artistic merit of the proposed project
• Clarity of project description, intended outcome and projected audience
• Project feasibility and soundness of project budget
• Clarity and feasibility of proposed outreach and marketing plans
• Community benefit generated by the project
• Accessibility to the public
• Number of people the project will serve

Panelists are required to:
• Attend one panel orientation meeting
• Complete a preliminary evaluation of applications prior to panel review meetings
• Attend their panel review meeting
• Attend at least two funded events in the following year
