On Thursday, April 2 from 6:30 - 8pm, for the DUMBO First Thursday Gallery Walk in April, Clamoring to Become Visible curator Christine Spangler and participating artists Lauren Culbreth, Meg Hitchcock, Inge Hoonte, Lisa Kellner, Nesta Mayo, Jung Eun Park, and Michelle Provenzano will discuss their work in the exhibition, now on view at BAC Gallery.

Clamoring to Become Visible(February 5 - June 26, 2009) examines how the written word interacts with and often replaces the normative notion of visual aesthetics within the gallery space. Often aesthetically subtle and intimate, the handwritten, embroidered, and collaged examples of text-based art selected for the exhibition represent fourteen contemporary artists’ attempts to explore everyday issues such as isolation, identity, spirituality, and communication.
