Scene: Brooklyn at Galapagos was the place to be for Brooklyn filmmakers and goers in May 2009. We presented 19 works by a range of filmmakers, plus a panel of some of the country’s top independents, who all live and work in Brooklyn. The three days of events included great discussions and networking. Check out the slide show!
Scene: Brooklyn's spring program also included, Living the Independent Dream, a panel discussion at Galapagos Art Space in DUMBO, Brooklyn that features some of the borough's most successful filmmakers, including Half Nelson's Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden, whose long-awaited new film Sugar premiered at Sundance recently, Oscar nominated director Tia Lessin, Cruz Angeles (Don't Let me Drown), and Ramin Bahrani (Man Push Cart, Goodbye Solo). The panel is moderated by Mark Rosenberg, founder and director of Brooklyn's own Rooftop Films. Scene: Brooklyn award-winners will be announced, with prizes including a cash award, Final Draft scriptwriting software, and travel on JetBlue Airways. This event requires an RSVP and is $5 at the door.
