Location: Bridge Street between Fulton & Willoughby Streets Nelson Rivas' work reflects the way he actively communicates with his environment and community. He seeks places and walls where people can feel united and represented, and creates a place for people to relate to each other establishing an open dialogue between art and life.
Rivas' mural captures how people interact with their bustling downtown environment by layering abstract form, bright colors, portraiture and text. The result is a unique representation of Downtown Brooklyn's diverse people and atmosphere.
Rivas studied at the Universidad Mayor, Santiago, Chile. His work has been exhibited at the Carmichael Gallery, Los Angeles, CA, Skylight Gallery, Brooklyn, NY, The Bronfman Center Gallery, NYU, New York, NY and the 1AM Gallery, San Francisco, CA. His murals can be viewed at the Sims Mural Project, Hunt Point, Bronx, NY, and the "Know Your Rights" Mural, Washington Heights, NY.
