ARTIST STATEMENT
These images belong to an ongoing personal project, 'Urban Cars,' that photographs vintage cars in Brooklyn's urban and industrial landscapes. The visual synergy between the cars and their environment, including color, form, or lines, is most important to me. The cars are photographed similar to a formal portrait, in profile and isolated from other cars and people. The brand, model year, and engine size is not important to me. My appreciation for these cars is strictly visual, especially in comparison to today's cars that have less personality, individuality, and design differentiation.

ARTIST BIO
Douglas Ljungkvist is a Brooklyn based photographer, originally from Sweden, whose work explores vernacular beauty with strong subtexts of time, identity, and memory. He is interested in the study of color, geometric shapes, and space.
