ARTIST STATEMENT
My artwork objectifies the lifelike facades and childlike ambiance reflected in popular amusement institutions and explores the way our culture attains a sense of happiness through the delusional remolding of reality. Theatrical elements are naturalistically integrated and combined with children's toys to create a suspension of space and time. My work experience in businesses that specialize in the cultivation of this phenomenon has left me with a mixed sense of apprehension and affection. My artwork highlights my entangled affiliation with faux authenticity and reflects upon the psychology that these exaggerated experiences provide.

ARTIST BIO
Seamus Liam O'Brien spent the formative years of his life performing with his family in various circuses throughout the United States, including the All Star Circus, T.N.T Circus, and the Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus. He has exhibited throughout the United States at venues including the Kathryn Markel Gallery, Atrium Gallery,and the Columbus Museum of Art. He most recently served as the studio manager for the Pop artist Takashi Murakami at Kaikai Kiki Studios. He received his BFA in Drawing from The University of Florida, and his MFA in Printmaking from Ohio State University.
