Brooklyn's own sci-fi electro funk collective, Girls Like Bass, along with visual artist Holly Daggers and NYC dance company AlieNatioN, invade The Archway under the Manhattan Bridge and transform the causeway into a spinning, shimmery, bioluminescent mother ship of music, light, costumes and movement.

Girls Like Bass is Brooklyn's premiere sci-fi electro-funk collective with an abiding love of all things house, electro, funk and disco. Formed in 2010, Girls Like Bass is a collaboration of musicians, songwriters, visual artists, costume designers and dancer/choreographers. With the release of the 4 track EP 'Digital World' and the premiere of their music video 'Systematic' in 2011, Girls Like Bass is poised to make their presence seen and heard in the worlds of music, dance and fashion.

ARTIST BIOS

Femme-Bot Lei-Lani 756 (aka Michele Darling) Bandleader, Composer, Performer, Songwriter As the founding member, bandleader and composer of Girls Like Bass, Lei-Lani 756 is not only the source code for it's sound, but the catalyst for it's visual and performance style. Infused with her late 80's/early 90's love of deep Chicago House, mixed with her 70's shimmer of disco and funk and then combined with post millennial electro, Girls Like Bass is a modern embodiment of Lei-Lani's diverse musical and visual palette.

Lizard (aka Terry Golob) Guitarist, Backing Vocals, Songwriter A guitarist since age 11, Lizard built his first guitar as a science project to demonstrate the nature of vibration. He has been learning, playing and performing ever since. Formally trained in Classical, Jazz and Brazilian guitar styles, Lizard has performed in rock bands, a new jazz trio and is the founding member of the avante-electronic duo, Aerostatic.

Monstah Black Guest Vocalist, Songwriter, Dancer/Choreographer Monstah Black is a singer, songwriter, musician and choreographer known for his stage performances that blur the lines of genre and gender. Born and raised in historical Colonial Williamsburg(VA), Monstah was exposed at birth to not only the pulpit rocking sounds of the southern Baptist Church and the classical sounds of the Roman Catholic Church but also the Soul, R&B, Rock, Funk and Disco of pop music.He is an artist in residence at Dance New Amsterdam, where he is co-creating an operetta entitled Black Moon (La Lune Noire) inspired by the opera Pierrot Lunaire. He has toured internationally and has been commissioned by numerous dance companies for his performing abilities and musical compositions. He is the recipient of awards from Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, American Music Center Live Music for Dance Program, The District of Columbia Commission on The Arts and Humanities, Career Transitions for Dancers, Topaz Arts Center and has garnered extensive support from New York organizations including The Thelma Hill Performing Arts Center, The Field, Dance Theater Workshop and Movement Research. He is a graduate of Long Island University New Media Art and Performance Master of Fine Arts degree program. Jessica E. Lee Guest Vocalist, Songwriter Jessica E. Lee has been a singer for as long as she can remember. Classically trained, she began performing as a jazz vocalist in college and her love of rhythm expanded to electronic music in the 90's. After a short-lived attempt at auditioning for musicals in New York City, Jessica began singing back-up in a New Jersey-based alternative rock band, Dacks, while working as a strategic marketing manager at Atlantic Records. As she began a new career in personal finance, she then joined Qualia, an electro-jazz-funk band, as lead singer and co-songwriter. Having performed at local venues including Mercury Lounge, Galapagos, and, for those who remember, Elbow Room and Lava Lounge, Jessica is excited to be on stage as a member of the electronic dance collaboration, Girls Like Bass.

Holly Daggers Visual Artist, Live-Mix VJ Holly performed as the onstage VJ for Microsoft's XBOX KINECT launch in Times Square which featured game-inspired visuals on 7 'jumbo' screens and over 600 dancers in a flash mob concert. Current projects include VJ residencies at Pacha NYC and R Bar (Manhattan). Upcoming dance/theater collaborations include 3D hiphop with Decadancetheater in the NY Fringe Festival, and BLACK MOON at Dance New Amsterdam based on a Schoenberg opera with Monstah Black and Major Scurlock. Her audience-interactive installations have been presented at the Museum of Modern Art and Chelsea Art Museum. She performed concert visuals for Moby and toured with diverse music acts ranging from The Roots to Page McConnell (Phish), Bustah Rhymes, and Hillary Duff. Holly was voted a Top 20 VJ by DJ Magazine(UK) two years in a row. Through her arts non-profit Forward Motion Theater, she presented the media performance series EyeWash which has produced over 200 live audiovisual collaborations, and the Dance/Theater and Technology series Re:VISION.

Hector Perez - The AlieNatioN Costume Designer, Alien Facilitator Hector Perez's design sensibility launched from his passion for both dance and fashion. Born and raised in New York City, Hector studied at the High School of Fashion Industries and Fashion Institute of Technology, moving forward to assist New York City costumer extraordinaire, Shelly Bomb. In 2001, Hector branched out on his own, making one-of-a-kind pieces for nightlife performers and an assortment of special requests. After seven years of fine-tuning his signature style, he developed the beginnings of The AlieNatioN characters. The AlieNatioN are haunting yet beautiful, elusive yet playful, beings from another dimension. Sightings turn out at worldwide celebrity events, private parties, international festivals, nightclubs and high profile premieres. Most recently, The AlieNatioN debuted two experimental performance pieces exploring alien movement with multi-media projections in collaboration with WetCircuit and Forward Motion Theater. Hector also collaborated on a club dance single titled "Get Abducted" with the band, Girls Like Bass. Through years of involvement in the entertainment industry and AlieNatioN, Hector's design division House of Hallucination includes a roster of clientele specially requesting his creative vision. House of Hallucination designs for legendary pop icon Cyndi Lauper, Superstar dance diva Ultra Nate', Mini-Britney tribute performer Terra Jole' (also Mini-Lady GaGa), the internationally known aerial performance group, Mantryx and Electro-funk band Girls Like Bass.
