Courtney J. Wendroff is the Visual Arts Director for Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC). Since joining BAC in 2005 she spearheaded BAC Gallery, an exhibition program for emerging artists and curators. She also manages the Council’s new arts consultancy program. Recent consultancy projects include City Walls, artists’ murals on construction fencing, and Hotel 718, a boutique hotel in downtown Brooklyn that purchased 80 original artworks for the Hotel’s public spaces. Prior to joining BAC, Courtney was the Assistant Director of Jeffrey Coploff Fine Art Ltd. in Chelsea as well as a consultant to Margaret Thatcher Projects. Courtney is also an artist who has exhibited throughout the United States and Europe. Prior to running a gallery she spent many years as an art teacher and artist assistant in New York and San Francisco. Courtney also devoted her early career to helping start up the successful not-for-profit glass facility, Public Glass in San Francisco, California, where she taught glassblowing. Courtney is a member of ELNYA and attended the Arts Leadership Institute, at Columbia University. She has also studied at the world renowned Pilchuck Glass School. She has an MFA from Parsons School of Design, and a BFA from the California College of the Arts.
