Carol Sterling has served the arts education field for more than 40 years. Prior to joining BAC, she was the founding director of the Arts Partners program based at the NYC Department of Education and worked in collaboration with three city agencies: NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, NYC Department of Youth and Community Development and the Office of the Mayor.
She has also served in leadership positions as the Arts Education Consultant with the New Jersey State Department of Education, Director of Education for the American Council for the Arts, as well as on advisory boards for local, state, and national arts and educational organizations, including The College Board, Doing Art Together (affiliated with the Metropolitan Museum of Art, School Art League, National Assessment for Educational Progress for Arts Education. She is a former art educator, art department chair, artist in residence in schools and is proud to be the recipient of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Award for Outstanding Achievement as an Arts Educator.Carol is a graduate of Barnard College, Teachers College and New York University’s Educational Administration program.
Carol is a graduate of the NYC Public Schools and attended The High School of Music & Art (before it was called LaGuardia HS for Music & Art and the Performing Arts). Carol holds New York State, New York City and New Jersey licenses as K-12 art teacher, principal, supervisor and administrator.
