Kathleen Christie, Arts in Education Manager

Kathleen A. Christie joined the BAC Arts in Education team in November of 2006. She earned her M.S. in Social Work at Columbia University, is a licensed clinical social worker, and former Program Director at a small non-profit agency offering cultural and educational opportunities to elementary schools in NYC. She has l0 years of professional experience in the educational field. Prior to formally joining BAC, she taught elementary and middle school aged students, and also worked with the criminal justice and social welfare systems of NYC, most significantly with women, children and adolescents. She has worked extensively with the NYC public schools and has particular expertise in working with challenging educational situations, and in addition to BAC, currently teaches parenting for Harlem Children’s Zone and conducts development outreach and education consulting for The Striking Viking Story Pirates. She has also taught photography and ceramics to children aged 7-15. She can also be found on softball fields, in multiple book clubs, weaving through museums and galleries, taste testing across the greater NYC area and pushing shutter buttons.
