SPARC Dance Performance

Jun

2014

12:30 pm - 12:30 pm

A small group of seniors at the JCC of Greater Coney Island will perform their piece "Everyday Waters". The show will be followed by a culminating party for the entire community center and the public. The piece includes dance works created through the everyday feelings of each of the senior participants.

"Everyday Waters" is a project of the Seniors Partnering with Artists Citywide (SPARC) program at the JCC of Greater Coney Island, led by artist Emily Wexler.

SPARC is one of many creative aging programs for seniors administered by Brooklyn Arts Council as part of our Arts in Education program.

SPARC is a collaboration among the Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA), the Department for the Aging (DFTA) and the City's five local arts councils situated in each borough – Brooklyn Arts Council, Bronx Council on the Arts, Staten Island Arts, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and Queens Council on the Arts. It was developed as part of Age-Friendly NYC, a citywide effort to make the City more livable for seniors, and previously ran in 2012 and 2013.  The 2014 SPARC program is supported, in part, by public funds from the Department for the Aging.

Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC) is proud to be part of this program on behalf of the borough of Brooklyn.
