Angela Fatou Gittens is a linguist, educator, and performing artist from Baltimore, Maryland. As BAC's Program Coordinator she enjoys assisting artists of all genres while completing her Ph.D. in Performance Studies at New York University. Fluent in six languages, Angela is a graduate of Oberlin College and Yale University and has been recognized for her studies in language, literature, and dance in Senegal, South Africa, France, and Mexico. As a dancer, she performed regularly on MTV, danced in the film Malcolm X and was an apprentice with the National Ballet of Senegal. Angela was also a Capitol Records recording artist and sang on Soul Train & BET. She is currently a member of the Forces of Nature Dance Theater, Conjunto Nuevo Milenio (a Panamanian folkloric dance troupe), and Seewe African Dance Company. She resides with her husband and son in Brooklyn, NY.
