Brooklyn Arts Council, (BAC) seeks a dynamic and outgoing professional to assist BAC’s Director of Development in fundraising, particularly in the areas of institutional giving and special events. This position is an excellent opportunity for an emerging arts professional to play an integral role in varied aspects of BAC’s financial sustainability, and to be a part of a close-knit team of talented arts professionals that are dedicated to developing Brooklyn’s cultural sector.
•Research corporate, foundation and government funding sources
•Assist in writing grant proposals, reports and acknowledgement letters
•Manage and administer donor database records, development files and development calendar
•Assist in planning and implementation of BAC fundraising events
•Manage outreach for in-kind donations
•Track ticket sales, prepare acknowledgements, etc.
Board Fundraising Committee
•Assist in organizing Fundraising Committee meetings, including preparing agendas and minutes and facilitate regular communication with members
•Other tasks as necessary
The position requires an outgoing, creative individual who pays strong attention to detail, enjoys coordinating events and has superior writing, communication and interpersonal skills.
•Bachelor’s Degree or higher
•At least 2 years of professional experience; non-profit development and event management experience strongly preferred
•Superb attention to detail with exceptional organizational and time management skills
•Excellent written and oral communication skills
•Computer savvy, aptitude with Microsoft Office Suite and internet research required; database experience preferred
•Ability to work occasional evening and weekend events
Salary and Benefits:
Salary commensurate with experience, within an anticipated range of $35,000-40,000 annually, plus health benefits.
