The William Vale
Thank you to our friends, collaborators, and supporters for joining us on a gorgeous spring night in Brooklyn to celebrate arts and culture in Brooklyn at Alive with Art!
For over 50 years, BAC has been a leader in Brooklyn's arts and culture scene, presenting arts experiences to people across our borough and providing assistance to artists and culture groups. Alive with Art is an annual celebration of BAC's history and influence on Brooklyn's cultural landscape and the many ways in which our programs enrich our neighborhoods, grow our economy, and create experiences that expand horizons.
This year, we were proud to honor three community members: Thomas F. Schutte, Chairman of our Board and President of Pratt Institute, whose tremendous leadership has changed the face of Brooklyn and who is currently celebrating 24 years with Pratt Institute and 19 years of service on BAC's Board; legendary graffiti artist and graphic designer Leonard McGurr (Futura), whose work is a reason that street art has become a cultural force; and Alloy, an award-winning Brooklyn-based architectural and development company whose projects include Spark by Brooklyn Children's Museum. Thank you, Dr. Schutte, Futura, and Alloy!
We'd also like to thank our Alive with Art performers Toni Blackman, Corey Wallace, Mr. JPatt of The Knocks, Nicholai Khan, and Sandflower for their music, art, fashion, and energy and to extend our gratitude to our event sponsors, Con Edison, Investors Bank, and VICE Media, our venue sponsor, The William Vale, and our media sponsors Hyperallergic and Brownstoner. We thank them for their tireless dedication to Brooklyn's arts and culture sector.
If you couldn't make it to the event but would still like to support BAC and our programs, which reach every zip code in Brooklyn, consider making a donation. A gift of $75 will provide art supplies for one student in a BAC Arts in Education program for one year.
