11th BAC Folk Arts Society Meeting

Tuesday, February 27, 2018 | 6:30-8:30 pm

Dr. Kay Turner presents “Hands Across the Harbor” during BAC’s 2013 Harborlore Festival (with Christopher Mulé) / Photo by Anna Mulé.

6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

If you missed our recent Folk Arts Society meeting, you can still join us in February as we meet again with former BAC Folk Arts Director Dr. Kay Turner! Be part of the conversation as we recruit your voices to be heard at the American Folklore Society’s October conference in Buffalo, NY, addressing "Traditions in the Trump Era.”

How are traditions being threatened? Issues raised at our last meeting included ownership of tradition, adaptation, transmission, and preservation--all topics in need of a voice from the people whose artistic practice and community life are increasingly at risk. Join us as we nail down topics for panel and forum proposals and choose representatives to attend!
