Opportunities for Youth
Film and video production opportunities for youth have greatly expanded in recent years. Schools, arts and community organizations, and youth organizations have found video production a powerful medium for education and creative development for youth, involving writing, visual arts, music, photography, research, a way of approaching contemporary issues and problems, social involvement, and all levels of video production including acting, directing, cinematography, editing, and distributing.
These organizations approach youth involvement in film and video production as an introduction to exciting career opportunities in the film industry so that the youth of New York have access to employment in one of New York City's growing arts industries.
Recognizing this explosion in youth film and video production, in New York City, nationally and around the world, BAC created the Youth Category of its annual Film and Video Festival to highlight these wonderful creative efforts by tomorrow's filmmakers.
Sony Wonder Technology Lab, Manhattan has been an active partner in supporting and ensuring the success of this new venture, serving as the premiere screening venue of the Youth Category videos.
