Booking a Workshop

Use BAC's Folk Feet Dance Workshops to book your own class or workshop series with Brooklyn’s traditional dance teachers.

Folk Feet Dance Workshops focus on teaching the movement repertoire of specific traditions like Puerto Rican bomba or Panamanian congo. Each workshop also provides an overview of the dance’s cultural setting, like the costume, music and crafts that traditionally accompany it.

Workshop Teachers

The 12 traditional dancers who teach through Folk Feet Dance Workshops have been selected from BAC’s ongoing Folk Feet project for their commitment, skill and passion for practicing and teaching culturally specific dance forms in Brooklyn.

Once you decide to organize your own class, go to Meet the Teachers to choose a teacher and dance genre.

Plan it Online

Then fill out our ONLINE PLANNING FORM to begin scheduling your class. The form will be forwarded to the selected teacher(s) who will contact you to book a date, shape the content of the workshop, and determine fees.

Who can host a workshop?

Anyone in NYC’s 5 boroughs can schedule and host a Folk Feet Dance Workshop. Book a class to teach at a dance studio, community-based organization, cultural institution, youth group, senior center or just a social gathering. Dance teachers adapt their classes to suite a range of participants, varying in age and skill levels.
