My Olympic Summer
Daniel Robin currently lives in San Francisco and teaches film production courses at San Francisco State University. He will soon relocate to Atlanta, Ga to take up a tenure track teaching position in documentary film production at Georgia State University. Robin began making Super-8 and 16mm films about himself and people close to him in the early 1990s. These films were featured in many festival screenings, including The Sundance Film Festival on three occasions, where ‘my olympic summer’ won the Grand Jury Prize for Short Films 2008. In 2000, he forged a path in the new frontier of web video, creating the web site www.neighborhoodfilms.com. The site has garnered several grants and media attention. For the past several years Daniel has put up over 70 short 2-4 minute episodes that make up 4 distinct neighborhood series. In addition to teaching film and video production courses, Robin also teaches courses related to web video production and aesthetics at Monterey State University.
