Azza Amon

Since the start of her career, Azza has been a featured dancer in all of New York's top Arab nightclubs, including The Nile, Cedars of Lebanon, Mofeta's, and Ibis. Based in Brooklyn, she dances at many weddings, private parties, and restaurants in the Arab, Turkish, Israeli and Greek communities. Azza has studied dance extensively in New York with Yousry Sharif, as well as Serena Wilson, Shoshana, Sufi dancer "Dunya,” Elena Lentini, Jehan Kamal, and Gamila el Masri. She returns regularly to Egypt to study with Raqia Hassan, Aida Nour and Mahmoud Reda. An international teacher and performer, she has danced in Japan, Honduras, Bahrain, Sweden, and Colombia, Hong Kong and Singapore. Azza has entertained such celebrities as Robert Plant, Bobby Short, Ron Howard, the Rockefeller Family, Donald Trump, Hassan Haknoun, Setrak, and Adnan Koshogi. We are pleased to welcome Brooklyn- based Azza to perform shama’dan in the Egyptian zeffa at the opening program, Brooklyn Maqam Begins, at Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts.
