One of New York’s leading Arab dance artists, Ranya has performed and taught on 4 continents and locally at Lincoln Center’s Out-of-Doors Festival, the American Museum of Natural History, Wave Hill (all with Simon and Najib Shaheen's Near East Music Ensemble), the Brooklyn Museum, the United Nations, and Alwan for the Arts, where she curated the "Dance at Alwan" series. Specializing in Egyptian dance, she has conducted ethnological music and dance research in Egypt, as well as in Tunisia and Palestine. Ranya works to raise awareness and appreciation of Arab cultural arts through her teaching and outreach work. She holds a B.A. in theater and linguistics from Yale University.
