BOOK YOUR SPACE FOR WALKING TOURS OF THE BOROUGH'S ARAB NEIGHBORHOODS.
The Brooklyn Maqam Arab Music Festival drew many of its talented musicians and its inspiration from two thriving Arab neighborhoods in Brooklyn: Atlantic Avenue and Bay Ridge.
Music is part of the ebb and flow of neighborhood life, part of cultural happenings that also include foodways, religion, material objects, and meeting places. In New York, music is place-based: locale influences your listening experience. As the weather warms, we invite you to come out for a few hours to tour Atlantic Avenue and Bay Ridge with us, to get a better sense of the streetscapes that compose Arab culture in Brooklyn.
Tours take place on Saturday, May 10th from noon to 3:00pm and Saturday, May 17 from noon to 3:00pm. We are charging a nominal $15 fee that will cover food, sweets, coffee, tea, and other samples at various tour stops. To reserve your spot, follow the "Learn more" links below.
