Capturing the raw power of a grassroots hip-hop movement, the award-winning documentary INSIDE THE CIRCLE tells the story of two strikingly talented Texas b-boys, Josh and Omar, former best friends who become rivals when they join competing dance crews. Immersed in the b-boy culture of defiant creativity, Omar rises to international renown while Josh tangles with the criminal justice system. Both of them struggle to keep dance at the center of their lives, and the “B-Boy City” competitive events thrown by visionary street dancer Romeo Navarro serve as emotional milestones in their journey to adulthood. As Romeo aptly observes: “If you can hold yourself down in battle, you can hold yourself down in life.”

Our story begins with a group of Moroccan Hip Hop artists who share a single dream: to rock a professional concert for a hometown crowd. Unfortunately, resistance is strong in their society and resources scarce. With the help of the American filmmaker, they appeal to the American Embassy for funding and begin the journey that will lead to the I Love Hip Hop in Morocco festival. This film reflects the thoughts and dreams of the true future of the Arab world. These are not the images portrayed by the media; these are the real people. And their views on America, Islam, and the world in general, might surprise a few people around the globe-none more, perhaps, than right here at home.

After Party - 11pm
