DCA Guidelines

Please note: the following are not the full application guidelines; this information is for general reference. Please revisit this website in mid-July to download the official 2009 application guidelines.

The DCA Regrant Program is funded by the Greater New York Arts Development Fund, a program of the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA). Brooklyn-based professional artists and arts organizations are invited to apply for a DCA Regrant for cultural projects that benefit the community and contribute to the overall quality of life in Brooklyn. DCA Regrant awards range from $750 to $4,000.

WHO CAN APPLY?
Individuals and nonprofit organizations may apply directly to this program, or may use a New York City-based fiscal sponsor if they prefer. Organizations, groups, and artist collectives without nonprofit status may apply as an organization through an NYC-based fiscal sponsor, or a lead person from the group may apply as an individual.

WHO CANNOT APPLY?
Organizations that received funding at any level from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs or through a legislative member item administered by DCA for Fiscal Year 2009 are ineligible. However, these organizations may serve as a conduit for another organization or individual artist – provided that the proposed project is not a collaboration with the conduit.

GRANT AWARD INFORMATION
DCA Regrant requests range from $750 to $4,000. The average grant award in past years has been between $1,200 and $1,800. IN a typical year, 40-48% of application are funded at some level.

Can I submit more than one application to the DCA Regrant?

No. Applicants may submit only one DCA funding request per grant cycle.

Can I apply to DCA as well as other BAC Community Arts Regrant Programs?

In addition to your DCA request, you may submit up three requests to NYSCA, or one request to IND-TIER and two requests to NYSCA. NYSCA and IND-TIER requests must never exceed a combined total of 3 requests or $5,000 in requested funding.
Eligible organizations may also submit an additional JPMC request for $2,000 to $3,000.
