The NYSCA Regrant program is funded through the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) Decentralization Program. Local artists, arts organizations, and community groups are invited to apply for funding to support specific community-based projects that enrich the cultural life of the borough.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Brooklyn-based artists, arts organizations and community groups are invited to apply for a NYSCA Regrant to support community-based arts projects in the following areas:
- Visual Arts
- Media
- Photography
- Crafts
- Folk Arts
- Literature/writing
- Dance
- Music
- Opera
- Theater and Drama
- Multi-discipline
Individuals and organizations without official nonprofit status must apply through a fiscal sponsor (conduit) organization. Fiscal sponsors for NYSCA Regrant applications must have official nonprofit status, Brooklyn residency, and have NOT applied directly to NYSCA for funding for the 2009 fiscal year. WHO CANNOT APPLY?
Organizations that applied directly to NYSCA for funding for the 2009 fiscal year may not apply for a NYSCA Regrant, even if they did not receive funds from NYSCA. The Brooklyn Arts Council cannot serve as a fiscal sponsor for NYSCA applicants.
GRANT AWARD INFORMATION
NYSCA Regrant requests range from $1,000 to $5,000. The average award in past years has been between $1,100 and $1,800. In a typical year, 40-50% of applicants are funded at some level
Can I submit more than one NYSCA application?
Yes. You may submit up to three NYSCA applications per grant cycle, but they must be for separate projects. Each request must be between $1,000 and $5,000 and the total may not exceed $5,000. An IND-TIER application counts as a NYSCA application and should be figured into the 3 request/$5,000 limit. In addition, you may submit an application to DCA and eligible organizations may also submit an additional JPMC request.
