Brooklyn Artists Gym is holding the following open calls for art in the upcoming months. Click here to apply. Collaboration Submission Deadline: July 10th, 2011 For our ?Collaboration? show, all entries must be the combined work of two or more artists. How have you combined your work, your world, and your vision with that of another artist? What have you chosen to create together? We are interested in seeing what the meeting of your creative minds has produced. Intimate: Small Works Submission Deadline: July 31st, 2011 They say that good things come in small packages, but small artworks go beyond good: they are considered, detailed, contained, composed. A restricted canvas builds intimacy between artist and viewer, drawing the gaze in and quieting the world for just a moment. No matter the subject or the medium, there is a shared quality to intimate works on a very small scale. For our annual Small Works group show, BAG is seeking submissions of 12 x 12 x 12 (unframed) or smaller. Scapes Submission Deadline: August 7th, 2011 From the wheat fields of Van Gogh to the dream-like plains of Dali, one of the most enduring genres in art is the -scape. Land-, city-, sea-, and dream-scapes; be it urban or rural, real or imagines, BAG is seeking work for a curated group show exploring the unique focus of the ?scape.? Introductions Submission Deadline: Brooklyn Artists Gym would like to invite recent graduates to submit their artwork for a specialized exhibition dedicated to introducing recent graduates. Further Out: Haunted Submission Deadline: October7th, 2011 In dark and quiet moments, we are all vulnerable to the ghosts in our heads ? whether they are rattling chains or stirring memories. Every October, we collectively revel in the delights of the macabre. But behind the kitsch of the store-bought cobwebs and tape-recorder howls of Halloween, there lies a deeper fascination with our dark sides. All-souls eve asks us a real and unanswered question: when we are haunted, do we want to exorcise our fears, or let the house fall to ruin? For our ?Haunted? exhibition, BAG is seeking work that deals with whatever spooks you, whether physical or emotional.
