We are organizing the first annual Flatbush Artists Studio Tour (FAST) to be held June 7 & 8, the same weekend at the Victorian Flatbush House Tour. FAST is sponsored by a group of local artists interested in showcasing the work of Visual Artists living and/or working in Victorian Flatbush (Flatbush to Coney Island Avenue, Caton Av. To Ave. H). We feel this is a great opportunity for artists to increase our visibility as members of our community. We are working in conjunction with BWAC & FDC. Application is below; deadline is Friday, April 11. We hope you will join us.

Part 3 Requirements for Participants

The FA Studio Tour is sponsored by a group of local artists interested in showcasing the work of Visual Artists living and/or working in Victorian Flatbush (Flatbush to Coney Island Avenue, Caton Av. To Ave. H).The success of the first Flatbush Artists Studio tour will depend on cooperative effort. All participants will be required to assist in the promotion of the event.

There will be two orientation meetings: Sunday, April 6 at 11:30 a.m. and Tuesday April 8 at 7:30 p.m. at Vox Pop, 1022 Cortelyou Rd. (718-940-2084). All artists must attend at least one meeting to qualify for tour participation. Artists who have questions prior to signing on may submit applications at the orientation meetings. There will be at least one additional meeting a few weeks before the tour for materials pick-up and distribution (dates TBA).

Jurying: Artists are required to submit CD-ROM with 3 images representative of the work
for review by the committee. Images must be less than 1 MB in size and 72 d.p.i.

Part 4 Space Sharing

URGENT: Some artists, who lack studio space accessible to the public, need space to share. If you have space to share with another artist, please let us know ASAP, prior to April 10 if possible; you will get to know other artists, and more varied work helps attract more visitors to your location. If you know anyone who might be willing to share or donate space (even a non-participant), please ask them to contact Karen Friedland at artistkaren@mac.com.

Part 5 Promotion and Graphics

The FAST will be well advertised and we will publicize it to as many potential patrons and visitors as possible. Materials may include a high-quality poster/map and postcards plus local advertising, press release, and dedicated website.

Groups: Each member of a group of artists sharing space is required to pay individual fee. All artists showing in shared group space must be tour participants.

* Associate membership:
Associate members of Flatbush Artists are entitled to exhibit one piece in a group show in the upcoming Flatbush Artists Studio Tour, and will be invited to participate in all upcoming FA events.
