Non-profit conceptual walks organization Elastic City (www.elastic-city.org) is looking for a filmmaker to join our artistic community through an internship this season! This would entail documenting our walks via video, maintaining our Vimeo and Youtube pages, and checking in participants when they arrive for a walk. The ideal candidate would be comfortable with shooting architecture and intimate moments that people experience on the walk. They will also be able to improvise in the moment to ensure they get the best shot. Videos should be shot in HD and edited with your own equipment. Attention to detail is key, as the intern will be entering information such as keywords and descriptions on our Vimeo and Youtube pages. This is ideal for a young filmmaker looking to expand the audience for their work while poetically documenting this emerging form of expression. All videos will be property of the intern with explicit use granted to Elastic City. Schedule: We will have over 20 series of walks this season, with each walk taking place 2-3 times. You will be asked to document a bunch of the walks. Each walk averages 75 minutes and occurs after 6pm on weekdays and over different times on the weekends in all five boroughs. Semester: Our season is from April until October, and we are looking for the intern to work with us for the course of the entire season. Compensation: We offer school credit for this internship. Apply: (Please follow ALL instructions below) - Send an email to: intern@elastic-city.org with a note describing your interest in Elastic City, your resume and a link to your work. - In the email's subject line please indicate that you are applying for the filmmaker internship. - Additionally, please include a link to your Vimeo and Youtube pages if you have one. ::About Elastic City:: Elastic City walks offer new ways of experiencing places we live in and visit. They explore various planes of human sensory and aesthetic experience, such as urban design, architecture, poetry, sound art, the paranormal and ritualistic performance. The organization was founded in 2010 by Todd Shalom, a New York native who devised the idea for Elastic City while traveling in Peru. Having worked in a variety of artistic genres (poetry, sound and performance), he decided to expand upon his existing repertoire of sensory-based walks and commission other artists to lead walks in their own disciplines. Most walks are designed to accommodate 8-15 people. They begin from various points throughout the five boroughs, and are now expanding into different parts of the country and into South America and Europe. Website: http://www.elastic-city.org
