eminent domain, nyc – brooklyn bike tour on Saturday, November 17th at 12 pm
Brooklyn Public Library @ Grand Army Plaza, Prospect Park
As part of her ongoing eminent domain, nyc project the artist Bettina Johae will lead the following bike tour of selected sites of condemnation in Brooklyn.
The tour starts in front of the Brooklyn Public Library at Grand Army Plaza and will end at the Bushwick Inlet Park in Greenpoint. On the way the use of eminent domain for the creation of Prospect Park, the just opened Barclay Center, the planned Atlantic Yards project, the Pratt Institute Title 1 project, Kosciuszko Pool, Herbert von King Park, for housing projects in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Bushwick and Williamsburg, the unexecuted Williamsburg Title 1 project, the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, McCarren Park and Bushwick Inlet Park will be discussed. The tour will end at a local bar with the possibility to further discuss the issue of eminent domain in Brooklyn over a drink.
