Each student will learn the basics of architecture through drawing, photography, building, creating models and exploring the neighborhood & visiting architects' studios.

Let's Go 3-D: Found Object Self Expression and Sculpture
This workshop enables students to discover the endless possibilities of their own creative source without rules or boundaries. Emphasizing intuition, young artists are guided through the creative process while creating original constructions, collages, 3-D mixed media, painting, sculpture or any medium that springs to mind. Students will learn the techniques and proper use of tools to create original and diverse work.

Action in the Art Studio Workshops
This workshop is where students learn what it means to Get Creatively WILD! Young artists will learn and create in our authentic artists’ studio. Full-day students will spend the morning in outdoor classes and tours and then return to the studio to build on the inspiration and experiences to explore their own creative voice in a variety of artistic media. Students enrolled in the half-day program also spend time outdoors and participate in the same variety of indoor and outdoor workshops and adventures.

Comic Book Action Stories: Cartooning and Comic Book Art
Children who love to – or want to -- draw and create their own worlds and cool kingdoms will thrive in this class. Aspiring comic and cartoon artists will create avatars, make up characters for their stories and create environments, like middle kingdoms, death stars and other original places, for those characters and stories to live. Students will draw, paint and have fun developing new characters to create stories packed with action and suspense. Students will learn how to build the story arc, develop characters with interesting back-stories and write fantastic action comics. Using panel-to-panel continuity, and creating tension with stories that have a beginning, a middle and an end, students will learn what makes a great comic book.

Self Expression Through Painting and Mixed-Media Arts
Youngsters who have already taken a painting and mixed media art class at our studio, as well as those who have dabbled in art at school or at home but are eager to learn more, will thrive in this environment. Your child will work on a variety of inspiring artistic exercises and explore various styles to create multiple pieces of three-dimensional artwork to take home and exhibit. Students in this class must have a foundation in painting, including a basic understanding of color theory, representation, style and material practices. This class will allow each student to advance her or his technique while pushing the limits and boundaries of creative vision to advance and experiment with new methods and materials. Each child is encouraged to explore her of his own unique expression by sampling a wide variety of art materials. Understanding your individual creative process is as important as mastering techniques and manipulating materials. Students are guided through creative visual art exercises and projects allowing them to explore their own artistic potential through new techniques in painting and mixed media, such as inks, pastels, texture, color mixing, collage and found object art.

Printmaking and Wearable Art
Budding artists will design, paint and create a variety of artworks on paper, canvas and wearable materials as they build a playground of patterns by stamping with found objects and hand-crafted stamps. Youngsters will experiment with shape and color by creating stencils and discover a world of texture by making calligraphy using paper, glue and textured objects. Lines and colors dance will dance on the page with styrofoam engraving. Artists will learn how to reproduce their artwork, over and over again, on almost any flat surface. Once students master these skills, they can make prints at home without a printing press. Youngsters will decorate a tote bag, make a mural, create greeting cards or anything they can imagine.

Masters of Drawing and Illustration: How Traditional Techniques Emphasize the Importance of Imagination
Students will extend their knowledge of drawing expressive portraits, figures, still-lives and landscapes. They will learn about perspective, basic anatomy and various drawing techniques. Young artists will look to historical masters and contemporary artists and learn to use traditional techniques to create work that is new and exciting. Students will develop their skills working with pencil, ink, pastel, charcoal and watercolor. They will be encouraged to create works that use traditional techniques while emphasizing the importance of imagination.
