Helene Mukhtar opens her studio for the 14th Annual South of the Navy Yard Artists Studio Stroll

More than 70 artists will participate in Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Bedford-Stuyvesant and Wallabout.
Helene Mukhtar’s studio is located on Carlton Avenue a block away from Fort Greene park and easily accessible via the 5/4/2/3 subway lines (Nevins Street) or R/Q (Dekalb avenue) or G (Fulton).
Her latest work, both mixed media and acrylic paintings will be exhibited.
Helene Mukhtar’s work celebrates the human spirit and life in all its forms. Her preference for vibrant colors is rooted in her youth spent in the Mediterranean sun. She uses minimal, simple shapes and her paintings style is spontaneous and expressionist. Inspired by cartoons, street art and medieval bestiaries, her paintings are animated with line drawings, symbols, collage, animal and human forms.
Mukhtar was born and educated in the South of France. She now lives and works in Brooklyn. Mukhtar received an MFA from Florida State University. Recent solo shows include the 440 Gallery in Brooklyn, Galerie ArtSud in France and Ion Studio in Soho.
