Spoke, an acoustic quartet that balances intesity with concision and eclecticism will be performing at the Artisan Market located on DeKalb Avenue sidewalk perimeter of Fort Greene Park, Brooklyn on Saturday, September 20. www.artisan-market.org
Often challenging the traditional jazz quartet format,Spoke focuses on a collective sound rather than an individual leader or soloist. Performing weekly at Red Bamboo since 2006, their first full-length album of original compositions is scheduled for release in early 2009.
Individually,band members have toured and played around the world with ensembles such as the Mingus Big Band, Aretha Franklin, the Supremes among others.
