La Troupe Zetwal Presents "Brooklyn Bamboche: A Celebration Of Traditional Contra Danse" On Sunday, May 4th 2014.

Join Us at Cumbe:Center for African & Diaspora Dance for full afternoon celebrating the roots of traditional social dance "The Quadrille" of the Europeans and  the traditional Haitian dance "La Contra Danse" featuring performances by La Troupe Zetwal and Something Positive, dance workshops by Michael Manswell & Something Positive (The Quadrille) and Lionel St.Surin (Contra Danse), a lecture facilitated by Angela Fatou Gittens and a "bamboche"- a traditional Haitian celebration with live music, drumming, percussions, interactive movements, singing and food. Come learn the history and development of one of Haiti's foundational cultural practices and participate in the richness with the whole family!!!
