Dances for Solidarity is an unconventional performance project that relies on written correspondence with incarcerated people in solitary confinement across the United States. We are currently forming a core team of collaborators: artists who are interested in corresponding with incarcerated person(s) on a regular basis and who want to be involved with nontraditional performance/event design. This project will officially begin mid-April, and collaborators should be available in some capacity at least through September. Collaboration will take many forms, but regular letter writing will be a key component. If you are moved by human rights struggles, prison reform or the variations in our individual existence and/or if you are interested in ways dance can infiltrate new spaces with the possibility of creating change, please get in touch. This collaboration is currently not funded, although there is a possibility of future grant funding. Current students may consider this project for internship credit.
