Studio 301 October 17, 2015 301 Ten Eyck Street, Brooklyn New York Admission: Free (Donations are encouraged) Start Time: 7pm WBMC Mission Statement The Women Beatmakers’ Conference (WBMC) is an attempt to build community among female-identifying artists who in their work engage in digital music production techniques, or wish to. The conference aims to be a space for women DJs, producers, emcees, and other performers to build and share the resources needed to grow in today’s music industry: networks, hardware, software, skills, and knowledge. It is the WBMC’s view that these resources are concentrated primarily among networks of men, access to them is limited, and often attached to expectations shaped by male dominated studio culture. The WBMC thus aims to encourage women to grow these resources in collaboration, and enable the rise of more women audio producers, DJs, and artists in the music industry.
