FREE! The award-winning theatre company Smith Street Stage returns to Brooklyn this summer for its 7th year of outdoor Shakespeare in Carroll Park. This year’s production is a gender-bent twist on The Tempest, starring Kate Ross as Prospero.
As The Tempest begins, the magician Prospero sends out a storm to shipwreck the traitorous men who once stole her throne and exiled her to a desolate island. When the island’s mysteries entrap and confound the men, Prospero wreaks her revenge. Meanwhile, her daughter Miranda discovers the “brave new world” of true love. The Tempest is a world of enchantment and storytelling not to be missed.
The show is free – no tickets needed! Come by yourself, with a date, or with your family. Children of all ages are welcome. Limited chairs and ground seating are provided, or bring your own seating with you.
The show runs June 8 through 26, excluding Mondays and Tuesdays.
All performances start at 7:30pm in Carroll Park, located at the Carroll St F/G Station.
