The event is a lecture demonstration on the ancient traditions of Georgian dance and music.
Sunday, November 12 at 4:00 p.m.
at the Actors Fund Art Space
160 Schermerhorn in Brooklyn.
We will have a strong representation of virtuoso Georgian immigrant dancers and singers.
Georgian music and dances are very beautiful and exciting. They are also the embodiment of ritual, traditional social structure and ancient truths transmitted through rhythm, melody, dance styles and choreography.
Enjoy this wonderful tradition in a program that will bring you inside these arts to understand more of what you see and hear. This intimate concert presents the kind of traditional singing and dancing shared socially among friends and family as well as in performance settings. The program will present archival footage of dances from the past together with dances and songs performed by some of Georgia’s foremost artists now resident with the Dancing Crane Georgian Cultural Center.
Presented by Victor Sirelson, long-time student, scholar and performer in traditional dance and music and director of the Dancing Crane Georgian Cultural Center in Brooklyn.
