Live, work and engage with the local community of Red Hook, Brooklyn at our studio DE-CONSTRUKT. Share a beautiful spacious 2600 sq. ft. loft with beautiful skylights, a B&W photography darkroom, art book library, wet sinks, and event space. Private fully-furnished bedrooms, one with a separate studio, with shared bathroom and kitchen. Accessible on-street parking and roof access with a view of Manhattan.
Our residency program started in 2013. We have hosted artists from the U.S., Canada, Costa Rica, Italy, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Iceland, Germany, England, Ireland, Israel, and Palestine. Past work includes painting, drawing, music, video, public intervention, performance, installation, workshops, and film screenings.
We invite artists of all disciplines, photographers, musicians, performers, filmmakers, writers, curators, and researchers to apply for 2019 residency opportunities. We provide a space to develop new ideas, create temporal work and encouragement to form new networks.
All participants must make a public event in Red Hook, and/or work within the community. We will work with each resident to organize their event and will publicize their event online.
Artists are required to stay at least two weeks. Please note two-week residencies make it difficult to organize events due to the short time frame. We encourage applicants to apply for at least one month if you would like to host an event at our studio.
Residency fee for two weeks is $675 for a private bedroom with a large studio (1 person). Residency fee must be paid in full before arrival. Artists are responsible for all expenses including supplies and travel. Artists can request work exchange for partial coverage of the residency fee, only if available.
Applications are now accepted for openings for July/August 2019. Applications are due May 31st Midnight, with an application fee of $20 due upon submission. For more information email email@example.com.
