Soup & Sound Around Brooklynis a series of about a dozen free or nearly free concerts that occasionally involve film, dance, and visual art happening in neighborhoods scattered around Brooklyn throughout 2019. Other events include solo drum performances by Pheeroan AkLaff, Jim Black, Hamid Drake, Andrew Drury, Sameer Gupta, Gerry Hemingway, and Warren Smith; Jay Rodriguez; Royal Hartigan (film, West African dance, music); Bonita Oliver’s “Ascension” (film, performance), Rose Tang and Tibetan musicians, the Dance Clarinets big band playing Machito; and the Aruán Ortiz Trio.
